Chef Leonard Bailey, CEC
Chef Leonard Bailey, 42, is a Rhode Island native. He has been interested in culinary arts since childhood. He started working in restaurants at age 8, washing dishes and doing other assorted tasks.
Leonard received vocational culinary training in high school. In his senior year, he won a scholarship through the scholastic merit foundation; beating out over 1200 other contenders. Following school, he attended the renowned Rhode Island School of Design in Providence, RI.
After graduating from college, Leonard settled into the job of Sous Chef at Foxwoods Resort and Casino in Connecticut. He was at Foxwoods for nearly nine years. Foxwoods is currently one of the largest gaming operations in the world.
In 2002, Leonard ventured into teaching. He accepted the position of Culinary Arts Instructor at Indian Hills Community College, Ottumwa, Iowa. He taught at Indian Hills for four years. In 2006, Leonard accepted the position of Executive Chef Director at Mountain State University, Beckley, WV. He served as Department Head and Lead instructor at MSU from 2006 until 2012.
Leonard has been a member of the American Culinary Federation for many years. In September 2008, Chef Leonard tested for and achieved the ACF title of Certified Executive Chef in Atlanta, GA. He is also an Approved Certification Evaluator through the ACF.
Leonard is presented employed as Culinary Instructor at Southwestern Indian Polytechnic Institute in Albuquerque, NM. In his spare time, Leonard enjoys traveling, watching movies and spending time with his family.
He resides in Rio Rancho, NM with his wife and two children.
