Accounting
The Accounting Program offers an Associate in Applied Science Degree (AAS) in Accounting as well as a Certificate Program. The AAS Degree in Accounting is a course of study over five trimesters designed to prepare graduates with general and specific instruction in accounting and related skills necessary to obtain entry-level positions. A formal double-entry accounting system is taught using manual and computerized systems. Generally accepted accounting principles and concepts are emphasized. The Certificate Program in Accounting is a program of study designed to prepare students with entry-level skills necessary for bookkeeping positions. Students who wish to continue their education and pursue an AAS degree in Accounting may transfer all credit hours from the certificate program to the Accounting AAS Degree program of study. Graduates of the accounting programs are prepared to continue working toward completion of a Bachelors Degrees in Accounting or begin their careers with one of the tribes or not-for-profit agencies. Graduates may also wish to work towards certification as Public Accountants, after completing their Bachelors Degree. A new Tribal Accounting class will further prepare students to successfully obtain employment with the tribes.
