Network Management

A Certificate in Network Management or an Associate of Applied Science Degree (AAS) in Network Management is designed to provide the student with an advanced technical education in personal computer repair and network equipment configuration. Hands-on labs and practical written exercises prepare the student for the Cisco Certified Network Associate Certification examination and the Personal Computer Repair examination.

The tremendous growth in the computer industry means exciting job possibilities. According to new projections from the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, eight of the ten fastest-growing occupations will be computer-related. That means that jobs for Information Technology (IT) technicians and computer support personnel will just about double by the year 2010.

Today, the Internet and computer networking are an essential part of business, learning and personal communications and entertainment. Virtually all messages or transactions passing over the Internet are carried quickly and securely through Cisco equipment. Cisco systems are the basis for most large, complex networks used by corporations, public institutions, and telecommunications companies.

More than 300 different IT-related certificates are offered by vendors and industry associations, but some certifications are more commonly recruited for in the IT labor market. Certification is usually required in the network design and administration fields, with most employers looking for candidates who hold Cisco certificates.
