SIPI Upward Bound Program
PROGRAM GOALS:
645.1 (a) The Upward Bound Program provides Federal grants to project designed to generate in program participants the skills and motivation necessary to complete
a program of secondary education and to enter and succeed in a program of postsecondary education. (Department of Education, Subpart A 645.1)
2011 SUMMER PROGRAM - June 5 thru July 15, 2011 1. 9th 12th grade(s) 2. Submit application to participate in program. Click here to download the Upward Bound Program Application (Updated February 19, 2011) 3. First Generation 4. Low Income 5. High Academic Risk SERVICES: 1. Develop an education plan for student participants. 2. Track and monitor participants academic progress in collaboration with High School/High School Counselors. 3. Provide tutoring, academic workshops/seminars that will build and broaden participants academic skills and promote cultural awareness and enrichment. 4. Provide a six-week intensive summer academic program that incorporates math, science, writing, language arts programs. Saturday Academies will be held during the school year. INCENTIVES: 1. Stipend for Summer Academic Program; Saturday Academy (if funding permits) 2. Meet with professional organizations and visit colleges and universities 3. Develop academic and college preparation skills 4.
