Coaching Center

Getting assistance pays off!  Let your Academic Coaching Center and the ABE Tutor Office help you reach your academic goals. The most successful students usually have mastered three skills; understanding the difference between high school and college level work, have learned time management, and they seek the support or help they need in the subject area they need it in early on.  Our staff is friendly, and we are ready to be of service.

The Academic Coaching program (A Division of Student Services)  is staffed by individuals whose sole responsibility is to assist students succeed in their educational endeavors. The Academic Coaching staff includes educational technicians, peer tutors and volunteer tutors.


All enrolled students at SIPI are welcomed at the center to study, seek assistance, or just to say “Hello.” The Academic Coaching Center is located in the Science & Technology Building (S&T) room 220.  The ABE Tutor office is located in the General Education building (GE) in room 110.

Study groups are welcome as well as individual students to study.


Open Computer Lab

The Academic Coaching Center has computers for student use. All students are welcome to use the computers and printer whether they need tutoring, other assistance or not.

The ABE tutoring service is located in GE 110.  A Peer Tutor is dedicated to tutor ABE English and Math.


We Sponsor Workshops and Form Study Groups

The Academic Coaching Center staff conducts workshops and study groups to help students build academic and career skills. The staff will post flyers and send e-mails out to students regarding a workshop or study group. Questions can be directed to the Academic Coaching Center staff.


Embedded Tutoring

A Coaching Center staff attends select classes for in-class tutoring.


We Offer Extended Hours

For Mid-Term and Final Examinations, the Coaching Center will extend operating hours. Please see the Academic Coaching Center staff for more information.


Peer tutors are available on Sundays at the dorm in the computer labs.


We Help with School Supplies

Students in need of note paper, graphing paper, pens, pencils, erasers, note cards, etc. can come in and will be supplied. Office supplies are available for use such as staplers, hold puncher, rulers, etc. Photocopying and scanning is available for students. Reference sheets for a variety of courses are offered. A Smart Board is available for presentations and for practice.

Peer Tutors are hired at the beginning of each trimester. Positions are available for the Summer 2018 trimester. Paper copies of the tutor application are available in the Coaching Center or can be downloaded here.
