- Academic Program Review
What is Academic Program Review?
Program review is a process to evaluate the performance and sustainability of an academic degree or certificate program over a five-year time frame. It is based on institutional values with respect to teaching and learning, specifically:
- State of the art trained faculty (or commitment to professional development)
- Exceptional resource advantage
- Commitment to student success
- Commitment to Native America
- Commitment to continuous improvement
Programs document their inputs, processes, and outputs for each of these five areas, supported by empirical data. The process of developing a self-study report is a collaborative process, owned by faculty, but supported by Department Chairs and the Office of Institutional Research, Effectiveness and Planning.
The process involves a peer-reviewed evaluation of the self-study, complete with a site visit, and evaluation report. Substantial changes involving resource requests are channeled to the annual supplemental budget hearing for determination of funding. The process takes approximately eight months to complete.
The process manual (including reporting and evaluation templates) is provided to the right. Also provided is a schedule for program reviews by academic year. For questions, please contact [email protected].
