- Non-Academic Program Review

What is Non-academic Program Review?
Program review is a process to evaluate the performance and sustainability of an administrative office (or student services office) over a seven-year time frame.  It is based on institutional values that contribute to institutional vitality, specifically:
  • Culture of continuous improvement
  • Culture of evidence
  • Planning for the future
  • Resource adequacy
  • Strengths and limitations
  • Organizational context and impact

Each office examines its historical performance on each of the values above and writes an evidence-based self-study report.  The self-study report is an introspective document of departmental performance that highlights areas of strength (to be protected) and areas of vulnerability (to be strengthened). The self-study is the basis of this evaluation process.

The process involves a peer-reviewed evaluation of the self-study, complete with a site visit, and evaluation report.  Substantial changes involving resource requests are channeled to the annual supplemental budget hearing for determination of funding.  The process takes approximately eight months to complete.

The process manual (including reporting and evaluation templates) is provided to the right.  Also provided is a schedule for program reviews by fiscal year.  For questions and for an external link to a training video on SIPI's non-academic program review process, please contact [email protected].
